What Tape Rack Does

BlankFor.ms built Tape Rack as a free Ableton Live audio effect rack. It gives you controls for pitch modulation, dropouts, parallel compression, drive and noise. The creator’s walkthrough demonstrates the controls on a pad and a drum loop.

Sound and Workflow

The rack draws on the creator’s experience recording with cassette tape, but works with Ableton devices rather than recording to physical tape. Two pitch controls offer different rates of movement, while dropout controls adjust interruption speed and intensity. It requires Ableton Live Suite 10.1.25 or newer and introduces 19 milliseconds of latency on the affected track.

Analog Gold Take

Tape Rack makes sense if you already use Live Suite and want separate cassette-artifact controls in a native rack. The stated latency is worth checking if you use it where timing or live monitoring matters.
