What Tape J-37 Does

Tape J-37 by Arturia is a tape effect based on the Studer J37 tape machine. It provides four tape color modes, input drive, speed control, tape stop, stereo offset, and an advanced panel with EQ, delay, noise, and instability controls. It can be used on inserts, buses, and master tracks.

Sound and Workflow

The plugin recreates tube-based distortion, tape magnetization behavior, and tape-machine non-linearities associated with the Studer J37. Its color modes range from cleaner tape tones to more worn and saturated settings, while noise and instability controls add tape wear and wow-and-flutter-style movement.
